Our goals are to help people and their animals have a better relation Whether you just want a companion dog to hunting to field trialing walking or also including horse back.
Animals that know where their position in the pack or herd are far more well adjusted then ones that don't have that leader. A leader helps the unity be that of a team versus a dictator who the animal is afraid of. We work with what an animal understands building the foundations to aid them through what you desire to do. We progress as the dog progresses pushing to much to fast only leads to problems in the field and even at home.
Skipping steps only leads to confusion or thinking they will grow out of a behavior ..the only way to grow out of an undesired behavior is the make that undesired hard and make the desired behavior easier. But bottom line it is up to the owner to maintain what they like in their animals behavior as if YOU do not change your habits the animal will not change theirs and that is not the animals fault.
Basic things we try and help with as the training begins is your communication with your animal. Tight leashes and tight reins means the animal is in control not you ..You really do not need harsher tools to correct this. You do need to change habits and stop allowing certain things which the animal thinks they are controlling. With dogs if you don't have control when they are next to you why should they be in control when they are 50 feet or 200 yds away from you?
Horses if you always rush around never allowing them to be calm why should they be calm when heading back to the trailer or their stalls. Horses should remain standing when you mount them. If they are moving around this needs to be corrected as it is DANGEROUS. Parking a horse is an awesome tool to not only getting a horse to lower themselves making it easier to mount it is also a great way to make sure they are more apt to stand while mounting and PS take that extra second to sit and be calm before cuing the horse to go forward. If you take just that little extra you might find your animals will respond so much better and be just that much calmer which can make things more pleasurable.
